When it comes to raw talent, creative artistry and groomed playing, Portland bassist Marshall Harrell cannot be overlooked. Marshall comes from a background rich in multifarious musical influences and interests. While playing in the Southeast Marshall thrived off of his natural musical talent and swiftly claimed his place as a major creative force behind any project he was a part of. In 2005 Marshall relocated to Portland, Oregon in search of new musical heights and soon found a new and inspiring home in the local music scene. Over the next few years Marshall has begun to impact the Northwest music scene as much as it has him. He studies closely under acclaimed bassist Damian Erskine and now in addition to his natural creative gift has developed the discipline and training required to assimilate to any musical circumstance. These days you can find Marshall onstage with a variety of acts, including The LaRhonda Steele Band, The Rooks Trio, Gretchen Mitchell, Rhythm Culture, and Jason Fellman Band. Beginning in Jan. 2008 Marshall will be touring with New Monsoon to take the place of Ron Johnson (former bassist for Karl Denson's Tiny Universe). Marshall is available for lessons, gigs, recording sessions, and tours.
